We built this site to say very little, and we collect about as much. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we handle when you visit or get in touch, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Untethered is an independent collective — a group of like-minded people based in India who build AI products and software. In this policy, “Untethered”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that collective and its members acting together.
For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), we act as the data fiduciary for the limited personal data described below.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to this website and to messages you send us through it or to the email address listed on it. Any future product we release will come with its own privacy terms, which will be shown to you before you use it.
Information we collect
Information you choose to give us
If you write to us, we receive whatever you include: typically your name, your email address and the contents of your message. The contact form on this site does not send anything to our servers. It simply composes an email in your own mail application, which you then decide whether to send.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, referring page and timestamps. These logs exist to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.
Local storage
We store a single, non-identifying flag in your browser’s session storage so the opening animation plays only once per visit. It is deleted when you close the tab. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, pixels or fingerprinting.
Third-party resources
Typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. When your browser loads them, it connects to Google’s servers, which may receive your IP address. Google’s use of that information is governed by its own privacy policy.
How we use it
- To read and reply to your message, and to continue a conversation you started.
- To operate, maintain and protect this website, including preventing fraud and abuse.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising or build profiles about you.
Grounds for processing
When you contact us, you voluntarily provide your information for the specific purpose of that conversation; we treat this as your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Technical logs are processed for the legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act, such as keeping the service secure, and to meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers we rely on to run this site and our email — such as hosting and email providers — and only as needed for them to provide that service. We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our members, users or the public.
How long we keep it
We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful to the conversation and then delete it, or sooner if you ask. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under their standard retention settings. When the purpose for which information was collected has been served, we erase it unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
Security
We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our accounts, to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold personal data about you, and give you a summary of it.
- Correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erase your personal data, where we no longer need it or you withdraw consent.
- Withdraw any consent you have given, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at untetheredgroup.hq@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This website is not directed at anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our service providers may store or process information on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we rely on providers that maintain appropriate safeguards and we comply with any restrictions notified under Indian law.

This site references and links to third-party websites, including sources for the figures we cite. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
